French Language Training

My formal French training begins in less than a week! I head to Hixson, TN this coming weekend and class starts on Monday, Oct 6th. Please be praying for me as I travel to Tennessee and then start this intensive course.

Delayed Opening

It is with much disappointment that I must let you know that the opening of the Hospital of Hope has been delayed until March 2, 2015. The main reasons for this delay are:

  1. The installation and connection of the boiler system, which provides steam for the autoclaves, the washer and dryer.
  2. The radiology equipment also needs to be installed and training completed.
  3. There are key parts for these installations that will be leaving Lansing, MI in the next week or so. It was recently discovered that these parts were missing after the installation process had begun.

Please continue praying for those who are busy working on the Hospital of Hope. This has been a huge project and is nearing completion. Please be praying for their strength and wisdom as they complete these necessary installation projects.

My Plans

I am still planning to arrive in Togo the first weekend of December. I will spend the 3 months prior to the hospital opening working at ABWE’s southern hospital (located in Tsiko), sharpening my French language skills and helping prepare the Hospital of Hope for opening day. This time will allow me to adjust to Togo, learn how nursing is done there and establish relationships with fellow missionaries and Togolese staff. I am still excited to get to Togo!

Praises and Prayer Requests

Today I was able to pick up a couple boxes of donated medical supplies from a local clinic. I am praising the Lord for His provision of some much needed equipment! If you have any contacts in the medical field that would be interested in donating supplies to the Hospital of Hope please let me know. We are still in great need of lubricant jelly and IV tubing.

My support is at 70%! I am continually thankful for those the Lord is using to provide my support! Please continue praying that I will be able to receive more financial support in the coming months.

I will be presenting about being a missionary during AWANA at Aboite Baptist Church tomorrow night. I am excited to present to these children! Please be praying for me as I speak.
